Courses and Events

All of us have questions in life or the desire to think and grow as people, so New Hope Community Church tries to make connections between the needs and interests of the people in our neighbourhood and the courses we can run or those on offer from nearby groups.  If you would be interested in a course which we do not run please do get in touch and we can either start a course on that issue or point you in the right direction to find it elsewhere.

Courses we run:

FamilyParenting Course - a short course run by Jackie Fountain with mums and carers from the Toddler group.  The course consisted of 6 weekly sessions covering a range of topics such as healthy diet, sleep, discipline and other.  We use video starters and go on to discuss our own experiences with each other which helps in understanding and enables members to feel supported.  After the last course one member said, "I found the discussions really helped me to have perspective on the things which I was finding most difficult, I'm so grateful for the friendships I made there too."

Email jackie.fountain@greyfriars.org.uk to register your interest in future parenting courses at New Hope.

Alpha Course - a 10 week course exploring the most significant spiritual questions in life; is there a God? why do we pray? is the Bible reliable? alphalogo1is the church relevant in today's world?  The Alpha Course offers those who are unsure about Christian faith the opportunity to ask the difficult questions and hear a variety of responses from other members as well as the leaders.  It is a course run by churches all over the country and there are several in Reading.  We join with Greyfriars Church to share resources and to get a good sized group.  If you are interested please call Helen Tinker at Greyfriars for more detailed information: 0118 951 6705, email: alpha@greyfriars.org.uk or click here.
