Ministries and Outreach

The church is located in the community because we believe in sharing God's love with our neighbours.  We seek to serve the needs of those who live and work in our immediate surroundings, so our groups focus on friendship and support for those who most need it, our activities aim to encourage or bless those who attend and through it all we hope to express in words and deeds who Jesus is and how much he cares for those we meet.

Our Activities:

Pastoral Care -
the centre is open every day and any member of the community is welcome to drop in for a coffee and a chat, or to seek prayer and support during times of difficulty or stress.  If you are in hospital or unable to leave the house we can arrange visits and can offer short-term support in household tasks if needed.  Please contact the vicar Joy Atkins on 0118 9587047 or joy.atkins@greyfriars.org.uk.

Midweek Groups - there are several groups which meet during the day for particular groups of people, some just social and others with a more spiritual focus, please see the Church Small Groups page and Community and Centre Life pages for more details or email us with a specific question.

Community Fun Days - we organise these sporadically through the year and hope that gathering a mixture of local people together for fun activities and an opportunity to get to know each other better helps to increase the sense of community for us all.  Please see the Community Action page for further details.

Foodbank - there is a Reading-wide foodbank service for those in urgent need, especially those with families to feed.  If you would like to donate your time or finance to this ministry please see the Foodbank page for contact details.
