New to Church?
Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life - we hope the website helps you find out what you want to know about New Hope Community Church.
Key info about the church...
When & where does the church meet?
The church meets every Sunday at 10:30am for our Sunday Service at 95 York Road, Reading, RG1 8DU.
It is a community centre and does not look like a traditional church, but look for the blue door and follow the noise coming from the first floor! Tea and coffee is served from 10am so do come early and introduce yourselves. On the first Sunday of the month the service is followed by a bring and share lunch.
Unfortunately, we do not have our own car park. However, Miles and Daughters have very kindly allowed the church to use their car park on Sunday mornings only. It is situated on York Road directly behind Mr Cod, with black gates and is first turn right from Caversham Road. Most of the streets around us are restricted to resident permit holders only, so please only park there if you have a local permit. However, there is some two hour parking available in the streets near the church. Please contact the office for details. The church cannot be held responsible for any parking fines incurred by parking in the controlled zone.
You can see a map on our contact us page.
What to expect when I visit the church
You can expect a warm welcome, great worship, relevant Bible teaching and a friendly bunch of people gathering to learn more about God. You can also expect tea, coffee and biscuits if you come before the service!
What happens to the kids at church?
JAM runs every week except on the first Sunday of the month. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we begin our worship with songs and prayer, then the service leader will make it clear where and when children need to go to do their own group activities. If you are new you will need to go with your children and complete a registration form. Children can expect to have fun playing games, being artistic and learning about God in a relevant way. When the older children go to their activities, there is a crèche for the children under 5 on the ground floor.
Is there a dress code?
No, just wear something comfortable!
Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?
Not at all! We will be welcoming, and you will not be forced to do anything you are not comfortable doing. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service. Do speak to us before the service if you are concerned about anything, it's also a great opportunity to get to know some people from the church and the local community.
